The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at Kiel University, Germany, invites applications for a


Professorship (W3) in Inorganic Solid-State Chemistry


at the Institute of Inorganic Chemistry, to be filled for the wintersemester 2019/2020.


Applicants are expected to have an excellent track record in the development of functional nanomaterials and/or heterogeneous catalysis, with possible applications in, e.g., energy conversion or storage. Researchers with experience in the application of modern analytical methods, in particular those based on synchrotron sources, are also encouraged to apply.


The successful candidate will be expected to teach all areas of inorganic chemistry at the graduate and undergraduate level, as well as to develop a world-class research program in inorganic solid-state chemistry. Applicants should demonstrate a willingness to participate in interdisciplinary collaborations with existing and planned collaborative research programs, in particular the local research focus “Kiel Nano, Surface and Interface Sciences (KiNSIS)”. We also expect the candidate to have experience in attracting third-party funds.


Teaching duties are based on the latest State Regulations for Universities (LVVO) of the State of Schleswig-Holstein. The teaching load currently is 9 hours per term week.


It is expected that the candidate has or will acquire the capability to teach in German and English and that the candidate will participate in university self-governance. Further information on the position and institute can be obtained from Prof. Dr. Felix Tuczek (ftuczek@ac.uni-kiel.de).
