Assistant or Associate Specialist
The Department of Neurology is now recruiting for an Assistant or Associate Specialist. The required qualifications include:
A master's degree (or equivalent degree) or five to ten years of research experience.
Experience in Stereotaxic mouse surgery, EEG/EMG or photometry
Works and designs experiments independently
Effective interpersonal and organizational skills and enthusiastic about science
Candidates must possess the required qualifications by the time of appointment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Mastery in a wide range of molecular biology techniques; virus construction; cloning, mutagenesis, PCR/ RTqPCR, recombineering and gene targeting; lentivirus gene transduction and generating constructs for making mouse models
Photometry
Electrophysiology
Familiarity with other programs including: Microsoft Access excel, word, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, PowerPoint and Graphpad Prism, the ability to learn to use these programs, as well as online databases
Appointees in the Specialist series will be expected to engage in specialized research, professional activities and do not have teaching responsibilities. Specialists are expected to use their professional expertise to make scientific and scholarly contributions, and may participate in University and Public
Service. Screening of applicants will begin immediately and will continue as needed throughout the recruitment period. Salary will be commensurate with the applicants experience and training.
