Postdoctoral Researcher in Materials and Applications of Superconductivity
Advanced Physics Laboratory – Institute for Quantum Studies
Chapman University
Advanced Physics Laboratory of Chapman University in Burtonsville, Maryland (https://www.chapman.edu/research/institutes-and-centers/quantum-studies/advanced-physics-laboratory/index.aspx) has immediate opening of a Postdoctoral position for working in a search for room-temperature superconductors, as well as exploration of novel superconductivity-based quantum devices. Candidates who have experience in cryogenics and SQUID magnetometry, electron microscopy, microanalysis (EDX, WDX, EBSD), nanolithography (Nabity system), Raman and FTIR spectroscopy, thin film deposition via magnetron (DC, AC, ion-assisted), e-beam, and PLD based techniques, as well as laser processing and micromachining, are invited to apply. Experience with LabVIEW, COMSOL Multiphysics, ABINIT/VASP/QuantumVise, and a good understanding of physics of superconductivity would be a big plus. This 2 year position (extension may be possible) is expected to begin as soon as the appropriate candidate is found. Strongly motivated researchers should send their Statement of Interest, and a CV focused on relevant experience, to Dr. Armen M. Gulian (gulian@chapman.edu). Attendees of the APS 2019 March Meeting in Boston can be interviewed onsite. Final selection of the successful candidate will require three letters of recommendation. Our job offer includes full package of fringe benefits. Affordable living facilities are available at a walking distance from the lab.
