Rutgers Child Health Institute of New Jersey and the Rutgers Institute for Infectious and Inflammatory Diseases

The Rutgers Child Health Institute of New Jersey (CHINJ), in collaboration with the Rutgers Institute for Infectious and Inflammatory Diseases, is seeking junior to mid-level tenure-track faculty with research interests in basic and translational immunology preferably with relevance to child health. The CHINJ, part of Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School (RWJMS) and Rutgers University, is a multidisciplinary institute focused on research dedicated to improving child health with a focus on the mechanisms underlying children's diseases. The CHINJ is located in a 150,000 sq. ft. research and pediatric clinical facility that is the hub of the Children’s Academic Health campus at Rutgers, comprised of the RWJMS Department of Pediatrics, as well as the adjacent Bristol-Myers Squibb Children's Hospital at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital and the PSE&G Children's Specialized Hospital, creating an international center of excellence in pediatric care and child health research. The Rutgers Biomedical Health Sciences Institute for Infectious and Inflammatory Diseases is has faculty members spanning the Rutgers campuses and is seeking to increase its collaborations with the CHINJ through this joint recruitment. Rutgers University’s membership in The Big Ten Academic Alliance and the Big Ten Cancer Research Consortium provide even further collaborative opportunities.

Qualified candidates must have a Ph.D., M.D., M.D./Ph.D. or equivalent graduate degree, outstanding academic credentials and a track record of research accomplishment. Applications from physician-scientists are encouraged. Junior candidates with current funding or grants under review are preferred. Mid-level candidates are expected to have a successful history of funding. Tenure-track appointments will be made through appropriate departments at RWJMS, with full access to graduate training programs and research resources. Participation in Rutgers graduate and medical student training programs through mentorship and teaching will be highly encouraged. Research programs utilizing interdisciplinary and translational approaches that develop interactions with the Department of Pediatrics, the Rutgers Institute for Translational Medicine and Science, and the Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey (CINJ) are encouraged. Affiliate memberships with CINJ will be available to qualifying candidates

Successful candidates will be provided with competitive start-up packages and will be expected to develop and maintain strong, externally funded research programs, and participate in collaborative projects with other Departments and Institutes on the campus.  Rank will be commensurate with experience.

The New Brunswick/Piscataway campus is situated in central New Jersey with easy access to New York City and Philadelphia, as well as to the Newark campus of Rutgers. The region is home to world class universities, numerous pharmaceutical and biotech research facilities and corporate headquarters.
