Assistant Professor

The University of Maryland School of Medicine, Center for Vascular and Inflammatory Diseases is recruiting for a full-time Assistant Professor, non-tenure track position to fulfill the goals of the NIH R01 grant HL 056051 to L. Medved entitled “Fibrin(ogen) Structure and Interactions”. The expected rank is Assistant Professor; however, rank and tenure status are dependent on the candidate’s qualifications. The University offers a competitive compensation and benefits package commensurate with experience and qualifications.

The successful recruit will perform complex studies on the molecular mechanism underlying fibrin-induced VLDL receptor-dependent mechanism of transendothelial migration of leukocytes. A high level of expertise in biochemical and biophysical techniques, and molecular and cell biology is required for this position.  The individual will also actively participate in seminar series, RIP sessions, and in dissemination of results to the national and international scientific communities.

Qualified applicants must have a PhD degree, and extensive experience in biophysical, biochemical, molecular biology, and cell biology techniques. The candidate should also have extensive experience in working with endothelial cells and leukocytes.
