Assistant Professor

The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) requests applications for one (1) full-time, 12-month appointment, non-tenure track instructor/assistant professor faculty position. The position will be located at the School of Pharmacy main campus in Amarillo, Texas, and the selected applicant will be strongly encouraged to begin working in May, 2019. The new faculty member will be teaching biomedical and pharmaceutical sciences course (e.g.) anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, and pharmacology. Experience in animal physiology and veterinary medicine is welcome, but not essential. Experience with peer-based learning/teaching methods is recommended. Additional duties involve engagement in scholarly activities, service to TTUHSC, and other duties and responsibilities as agreed upon with the department chair. The position requires collaboration with other TTUHSC faculty members at university campuses in Amarillo, Lubbock, Abilene, and Dallas. Preferred qualifications include a Ph.D. in pharmaceutical sciences, physiology, pharmacology, toxicology or a related discipline with an undergraduate education relevant to pharmacy education and teaching. Experience with multi-campus synchronous distance education is preferred. There will also be an additional preference for veterinary experience. Assistant professor ranking is dependent upon a record of previous teaching experience, previous peer-reviewed publications and/or peer-reviewed creative activity which has contributed to the discipline or field of study, to the candidate’s intellectual development, and to the quality of the academic enterprise; a record of professional service appropriate to the discipline, promise of growth in teaching and service activities.
