Post-Doctoral Position, Stroke Research
A post-doctoral position is available to work on an NIH-funded project for stroke. We use a multidisciplinary approach that involves molecular biology, biochemical techniques, and confocal microscopy using mouse models of stroke. We study the effects of aging and neuroprotection against neurovascular damage and seek to identify therapeutic strategies for the treatment of stroke.
Preferred candidates will be a Ph.D., M.D. or both with relevant background in stroke research with mouse models (middle cerebral artery occlusion). Required techniques are MCAO stroke surgery, stereotaxic injections, confocal microscopy, RT-PCR, western blotting and relevant behavioral studies for experimental stroke. Candidates must be proficient in data analysis and writing manuscripts for publications. The individual should have demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to supervise students and other members of the research team. Salary will be commensurate with experience.
