Job description
The Chien Lab at Erasmus University Medical Center (Erasmus MC) is a multidisciplinary lab and is looking for a self-motivated PhD or postdoc with a strong background in optical and/or mechanical engineering.

We are researching cancer biology and creating diagnosis and treatment technology. Instrument development is an integral part of this. The successful candidate will develop a next-generation high-throughput screening microscope for isolation of abnormal and sparse aggressive cancer cells, based on some of our developed technologies. The project involves designing and building a custom microscope and programming a user-friendly interface for cancer cell screening. The candidate will also work on creation and improvement of advanced imaging methods for capturing high resolution spatiotemporal cellular dynamics in 2D and 3D biological samples and contribute to advancing our research in cancer diagnostics and therapeutics based on single cell technology. The successful candidate will interact with a diverse group of faculty in Physics, Chemistry, Bioengineering and Cell Biology, and will be able to collaborate with leading laboratories at Erasmus MC, Delft University of Technology, the Oncode Institute and the Cancer GenomiCs.nl consortium.
