Postdoctoral Fellow in Regulatory Genomics

The Maurano Lab is looking for a talented Fellow to work on how the noncoding genome specifies cell-type specific transcriptional regulation and its involvement in the genetics of human traits and diseases. Our research aims to establish a foundation for the mechanistic study of regulatory variation, with the long-term goal of understanding how the noncoding genome affects cell-type specific transcriptional regulation and its involvement in the genetics of human traits and diseases. We are part of the newly established NHGRI-funded Center for Synthetic Regulatory Genomics using large-scale DNA synthesis and assembly to investigate the regulatory architecture of genomic gene regulation.

We apply both experimental and computational approaches and our interests include:

  • Delineation of noncoding genetic variation affecting transcription factor occupancy and gene expression
  • Regulatory variation and the genetics of human diseases and traits
  • Long-distance regulation of gene expression in disease and development
  • Profiling of chromatin features and their relationship to nuclear organization and function
  • High throughput approaches to assessing transcription factor activity

For more information, see our lab website at http://www.mauranolab.org or our past publications at: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed?cmd=search&term=Maurano+MT%5Bau%5D

Location
Our laboratory is located on the east side of Manhattan at the NYU School of Medicine. We are affiliated with the Institute for Systems Genetics, the Department of Pathology, and the Sackler Institute of Graduate Biomedical Sciences. We are co-located with the Center for Human Genetics and Genomics and the Institute for Computational Medicine. The Institute is designed to foster inter-disciplinary research at the cutting edge of human genetics and genomic technology, and hosts dedicated high-performance computing resources, sequencing, cells sorting, and other support facilities, and an automation suite with multiple liquid handling robots enabling rapid scaling of new techniques.

Requirements

A Ph.D. in molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry, or a related field is required. Candidates with both experimental and computational experience are welcome.

To apply

Interested parties should email a CV or resume and names of three references to Matthew Maurano (maurano [ a t ] nyu.edu). The position is available immediately.
