We seek exceptional applicants with a PhD, MD, or equivalent degrees who are actively engaged in a cutting-edge, competitive, basic and/or translational research program in the field of genetics/genomics. We target those who are interested in reproduction, early human development or prenatal biology, with possible application to diagnostics, therapeutics, and personalized medicine. Applicants should demonstrate outstanding academic research productivity, and an excellent past or promising funding track record. Applications from candidates utilizing animal models, advanced genomic technologies or computational tools are highly encouraged. We value applicants who may benefit from our active programs in prenatal genetics, cytogenetics, cancer genetics, our medical school’s programs in adult genetics, informatics and precision medicineand our Graduate School of Public Health’s program in human genetics.

The selected candidate will join our cross-disciplinary, collaborative environment of over 40 principal investigators at the internationally recognized Magee-Womens Research Institute, one of the largest institutes dedicated entirely to reproductive biology, women’s and infants’ health. Research at the Institute centers on embryonic, fetal and placental development, pregnancy, genital infections, gonadal biology, female and male fertility, gynecology, pelvic floor health, female cancer, health services and wellness. Intense translational and clinical research bridges basic discoveries with mechanistic, diagnostic and therapeutic approaches for clinical applications. Our modern facility spans 125,000 sq ft of state-of-the-art laboratories, core facilities, and animal research units. While participation in OBGYN clinical activity is not required, it may be an option for clinician candidates.

The successful applicant will be expected to contribute to scholarly activities, and to teach graduate and post-graduate medical and PhD trainees. The selected candidate will hold a tenure track or tenured academic appointment (Associate or Full Professor) and an Endowed Chair at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, and will receive a competitive start-up package, salary and faculty benefits.
