The Department of Biomedical Sciences of Cooper Medical School of Rowan University (CMSRU) in Camden, NJ is seeking applications for a tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor position in the area of Immunology.  The CMSRU Department of Biomedical Sciences is composed of faculty with broad interests in biomedical research and medical education, and is dedicated to excellence in innovative teaching, research, and service. 

A major focus of this position is on medical education, and special consideration will be given to candidates with documented medical school teaching experience.  The CMSRU curriculum emphasizes small-group active learning and practical application sessions; full class lectures are also included.  Experience with clinical case-based, team-based, and self-directed active learning methodology is highly desirable.

The successful candidate will also be expected to develop a sustainable program of independent research and seek external funding. The Biomedical Sciences faculty collaborate closely with faculty at Cooper University Hospital, as well as with faculty at Rowan University and other research institutions.  Current areas of research emphasis include cancer, inflammation, bone and joint disease, and neuroscience. Applicants with interests in these areas are especially encouraged to apply; however, all applicants will be considered.  Service on departmental, college, and university committees, and participation in community outreach programs is also expected.

The minimum requirements for the position are:

MD/Ph.D. degree in immunology or related discipline

Post-doctoral experience

Evidence of productivity via publications in the field

Excellent written and spoken communication skills

Although flexible, the expected start date for the position is July 1, 2019. 

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the US. The university will not sponsor an applicant for a work visa for this position.
