THE SAM AND ANN BARSHOP INSTITUTE FOR LONGEVITY AND AGING STUDIES
The Sam and Ann Barshop Institute for Longevity and Aging Studies, member of the Joe R. & Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine at UT Health San Antonio, seeks outstanding candidates for tenure-track faculty positions at the rank of Associate Professor to complement existing strengths in aging and metabolism. We are particularly interested in candidates whose research include gerontology and aging- diseases. The successful applicant should have a degree in nutrition and PhD studies in nutrition, exercise, and rehabilitation medicine. The applicant should have a track record of federal research funding to support exercise interventions to improve physical function and metabolism in older adults, stroke survivors, and cancer survivors. The applicant is expected to develop and maintain an extramurally funded research program at the Barshop Institute and Department of Medicine, as well as participate in graduate student training and didactic education.
The Barshop Institute hosts a Training Program (T32) in the Biology of Aging, a Nathan Shock Center of Excellence, a Claude D. Pepper (OAIC) Center and a testing site for the NIA Interventions Testing Program. UT Health San Antonio is affiliated with the San Antonio Geriatric Research, Education and Clinical Center of the South Texas Veterans Health Care System.
