The Center for Sustainable Development in the Earth Institute at Columbia University seeks a Research Scientist to manage its REACH (Refugees Act and Communicate for Health) project and conduct a community based participatory research study in Lebanon, Jordan, and Turkey.
The Research Scientist will be based in NY with travel to project countries. S/he will be responsible for the overall management of the project, including preparation of quantitative/qualitative data collection tools, training of local staff, monitoring data collection, analysis of data, preparation of reports and scientific publications, as well as management of international and local partnerships for the REACH study that investigates the impact of an m-health intervention with a community-based approach among refugee youth in Lebanon, Jordan, and Turkey.
Applicants must have a PhD degree in Public Health, Health Education, Health Promotion, Medicine or related discipline. Qualified candidates must possess at least 6 years of post PhD experience as well as a strong publication record. The successful candidate will have 6 years work experience in public health, health education, health promotion, or disaster preparedness or related discipline, with at least 5 years in an academic setting. Prior experience with research in refugee/migrant health, youth health, sexual and reproductive health (SRH), health education and promotion in Eastern Europe and Central Asia and/or Middle East.
Appointment is for a period of 1 year and eligible for renewal contingent upon performance and funding. Search will remain open for at least 30 days after the ad appears and will continue until the position is filled. Columbia University benefits offered with this Officer of Research appointment.
