Physician-Scientist – Experimental Neuropathologist
Weill Institute for Neurosciences and the Departments of Pathology and Neurology at UCSF
Assistant, Associate or Full Professor

The Weill Institute for Neurosciences and the Departments of Pathology and Neurology at UCSF invites applications for a faculty position with expertise in neuroinflammatory diseases.

The position seeks an exceptional physician scientist (MD or MD/PhD) at the level of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor in the Ladder Rank or In-Residence series who will lead investigations on the mechanisms of glial pathology and neural circuit dysfunction in neuroinflammatory diseases. The successful candidate will develop a rigorous laboratory-based research program focused on glial biology and how glial pathology contributes to failure of remyelination and neural circuit dysfunction. S/he will have a track record of innovative accomplishment in basic/translational research and an interest in working within a highly collaborative, multidisciplinary environment. The candidate will have or seek to develop a robust portfolio of extramural grant support. Training in neuropathology is required and board certification in neuropathology is preferred. MD or MD/PhD is also required. Experiences in the organization and/or oversight of human brain tissue banking systems for neuroinflammatory diseases will be considered as additional strengths.

The selected candidate will have a joint appointment in the Departments of Pathology and Neurology, and will participate in the broad Neuroscience community at UCSF and will serve to bridge basic neuroscience research with pathology from human neuroinflammatory diseases. S/he will be proposed for membership in the Weill Neuroscience and Biomedical Science (BMS) Graduate Programs, and be actively involved in teaching fellows, residents, and medical and graduate students. The selected candidate must have or be eligible for medical license in California at the time of appointment. This is a rare opportunity for accomplished and highly motivated individuals to join a growing team of investigators at the new Weill Institute for Neurosciences located at UCSF's burgeoning Mission Bay campus.

Interested applicants are encouraged to apply online and submit a curriculum vitae, statement of contributions to diversity, cover letter, statement of research, statement of teaching, and names and contact info of three references within 60 days of the appearance of this announcement to: https://aprecruit.ucsf.edu/JPF02326.
