Dr. Chengyu Liang’s laboratory at the Department of Molecular Microbiology and Immunology (MMI) at the Keck School of Medicine of USC, located in the Health Science Campus, is seeking one postdoctoral scholars to investigate mechanisms of autophagy and autophagy-related cellular process in viral oncogenesis and cancer development.

Research in Liang Lab is centered on understanding the basic principle of cellular processes including autophagy, apoptosis, DNA damage/repair, and intracellular trafficking to answer key questions in cancer development and infectious disease. We make use of cutting-edge technology including proteomic study, confocal microscopy/live cell imaging, primary and tumor cell culture, and murine model for cancer and virus-related research. Our lab is multi-disciplinary, highly interactive team, and postdocs are expected to conduct independent and challenging research under the PI’s close supervision and work in a highly collaborative manner.

We are seeking self-motivated and goal-driven postdoctoral candidates, with a PhD or MD/PhD in molecular and cellular biology or related fields and be skilled in protein biochemistry and cancer biology. Previous experience with metabolism, virology, proteomics, transcriptomics or bioinformatics would be helpful. The candidate should be able to work both independently and in a collaborative environment, with a strong commitment to reaching research excellence and achieving assigned objectives. Please send CV and names of three references to Dr. Chengyu Liang via email at chengyu.liang@med.usc.edu
