Postdoctoral Position in Bioinformatics / Proteomics

Channing Division of Network Medicine

Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School

The Channing Division of Network Medicine at Brigham and Women's Hospital is looking for exceptional postdoctoral fellowship candidates to join the Systems Genetics and Genomics group to advance research in respiratory disease, with a focus on the identification of protein biomarkers for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

Our group has led some of the largest and most comprehensive genetic and multi-omic studies in obstructive lung diseases, including identifying novel genetic associations and performing functional studies to identify new disease pathways. Fellows will work with an interdisciplinary team, consisting of geneticists and genetic epidemiologists, biostatisticians, computational biologists, translational scientists, and clinicians. The fellow will work on an NIH-funded project including analysis of large-scale proteomics data and integration of proteomics with genetics.  The candidate will work directly with Dr. Edwin Silverman, Chief of the Channing Division of Network Medicine.

Qualified candidates should have a Ph.D. in bioinformatics, statistics, mathematics, physics, or a related quantitative field and strong programming skills in R / Bioconductor, Python, or MATLAB.  Previous experience in analysis of proteomic, genetic, or other Omics data is mandatory.  Candidates should have excellent communication (oral and written) and documentation skills; ability to adhere to reproducible research standards; ability to work well in teams and interact with all levels of staff; the drive to pursue scientific questions; and be readily able to learn new skills and analytic techniques.

Brigham and Women’s Hospital is a Harvard Medical School affiliated institution, with over 1000 principal investigators. The Channing Division of Network Medicine is a research division within the Department of Medicine whose goal is to define the etiology and reclassify complex diseases using network- and systems-based approaches. This group includes some of the largest population-based and pulmonary cohorts in the world, and an outstanding track record of mentoring.

We are an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.

Qualified candidates should submit their CV, the names of two references, and a cover letter to Dr. Edwin Silverman (ed.silverman@channing.harvard.edu).
