Postdoctoral Position at UCLA in Germ Cell and Stem Cell Biology

A postdoctoral fellow position is available in the Laboratory of Dr. Patrick Allard, in the Division of Life Sciences at UCLA. The overarching goal of our research is to elucidate the pathways by which chemical environmental stressors perturb normal mammalian germ-stem cell biology and function. We are particularly interested in the epigenetic mechanisms underlying the transgenerational inheritance of these alterations in germ cell behaviour. Using an innovative murine organoid model of germ cell development, the candidate will be responsible for designing new genetic and molecular reporter approaches that will facilitate the investigation of how time and dose-specific perturbations of the epigenome at the early stages of germline development affect the function and differentiation potential of these cells and at later stages of gametogenesis. The position will require an independent, motivated, highly creative and resourceful individual. The successful applicant will be expected to provide regular progress reports in the form of lab meetings and present their work at international conferences and meetings in relevant and appropriate fields. The successful applicant will also have opportunities to engage in student supervision/mentoring. Qualifications

The candidate should have a Ph.D. or an M.D./Ph.D or equivalent training. The position seeks applicants with a strong background and hands-on research experience in one or more relevant areas including working with stem cells, cellular differentiation, flow cytometry, molecular biology, gene editing (CRISPR/Cas) and cell engineering. They should also be able to demonstrate a strong track record of publications in high-impact, peer-reviewed journals as both first and co-author.
