The Medical Faculty Mannheim of Heidelberg University invites applications for a

Tenure Track Professorship (W 1, after tenure W 3) for Cardiovascular Pharmacology

The successful candidate should be an internationally visible young scientist with outstanding research accomplishments and methodological expertise in cardiovascular research. She/he will head a research group at the Department of Experimental Pharmacology (director: Prof. Dr. T. Wieland) within the European Center of Angioscience (ECAS; www.umm.uni-heidelberg.de/ecas/). Her/her field of expertise should support and broaden the research topics covered in the ECAS and the DZHK partner site Heidelberg/Mannheim (https://dzhk.de/en/partner-sites/heidelbergmannheim/). Future contributions to the extramurally funded collaborative research programs in the research focus ‘Vascular Biology and Medicine’ of the Medical Faculty Mannheim are expected. Contributions to other research foci of the Medical Faculty Mannheim and collaborative research programs of Heidelberg University are welcome. In addition, applicants should display excellent teaching capabilities in Pharmacology and be highly committed to support the innovative medical curriculum MaReCum. Command of the German language is not mandatory at the time of recruitment. Yet, the successful candidate is expected to contribute to the German MD teaching curriculum within two years after arrival (as well as to the English graduate teaching curriculum).

In accordance with Section 51 Landeshochschulgesetz Baden-Württemberg (the Baden-Württemberg State Higher Education Act), this appointment requires a completed university degree, an excellent doctorate, and pedagogical aptitude. The professorship is a qualification position and we are thus searching for a young researcher with typically up to six years of experience.

The tenure track professorship (salary grade W1) is initially limited to six years. Following a positive tenure evaluation, it will be converted to a permanent professorship (salary grade W3). The position is funded by the Tenure Track Programme of the German Federal Government and the Federal States. Further information on the Tenure Track program (e.g. the evaluation statute) is available at the website of the Human Resources Division (www.uni-heidelberg.de/tenuretrack).

The University of Heidelberg is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer. The faculty intends to increase the number of women in teaching and research; women are therefore explicitly invited to apply. Handicapped persons with the same qualifications will be given preference.

Candidates should submit a full CV with copies of certificates, a list of publications and selected reprints (please follow the applicants’ guidelines for the full CV and fill in both the applicants’ forms found on our webpage at www.umm.uni-heidelberg.de/karriere/berufung) within 4 weeks of publication of this advertisement to Prof. Dr. med. Sergij Goerdt, Dean of the Medical Faculty Mannheim, University of Heidelberg, University Medical Center Mannheim, 68135 Mannheim, Germany, (Elke.Buering@medma.uni-heidelberg.de).
