Dr. Eric Ross's lab uses a combination of yeast genetics, biochemistry, and bioinformatics to study the causes and consequences of protein aggregation. The successful applicant is expected to conceive and perform innovative experiments examining the amino acid sequence requirements for functional and pathogenic protein aggregation;

interactions of protein aggregates with the cellular proteostasis machinery; and the regulation of functional protein assemblies. This position involves designing and engaging in independent research and actively publishing research finding.

Required Job Qualifications

A Ph.D. degree in Biochemistry and a record of peer-reviewed publications is required.

Preferred Job Qualifications

Experience with yeast genetics and protein biochemistry is preferred.

Reflecting departmental and institutional values, candidates are expected to have the ability to advance the Department’s commitment to diversity and inclusion.

Essential Duties

Job Duty Category Research Duty/Responsibility

This position is expected to conceive and perform innovative experiments to develop and examine the causes and consequences of protein aggregation.

The goal is to understand the amino acid sequence requirements for formation of stable amyloid aggregates and dynamic, reversible assemblies; the interactions of protein aggregates with the cellular proteostasis machinery; and the regulation of functional protein assemblies. The experiments will include both in vivo experiments in yeast and in vitro protein biochemistry experiments.

The Post Doctoral Fellow will meet at least weekly with the PI to design discuss the design and interpretation of experiments.
