Learning Designer at the Max Planck School of Cognition (MPS-Cog)

Contract: full- or part-time employment for 2 years, with the possibility of extension; remuneration in accordance with the German public service pay scale

Ideal start date: March 2019

We invite applicants for a full- or part-time position as Learning Designer of the newly founded Max Planck School of Cognition. The successful applicant will be based in Leipzig or Berlin.

The Max Planck School of Cognition (MPS-Cog), one of the three pioneering national Max Planck Schools, is a joint initiative of the Max Planck Society, German universities, and the German research organizations and is additionally funded by the German ministry of research (BMBF). MPS-Cog will explore new paths in postgraduate education in Germany by linking the dispersed excellence of German researchers in the field of cognition, thus attracting top international graduates to its world-class PhD programme. A unique network of approximately 50 outstanding scientists forms the basis for a career-oriented education. Responsibilities The successful applicant will:

  • Design student-centred learning experiences for blendedcourses
  • Work in close connection with teachers and tutors to identify the learning outcomes of the differentcourses
  • Create engaging interactive learning activities that reinforce the concepts specified by theteachers/tutors.
  • Create supporting material/media (audio, video, simulations, role plays, games etc)
  • Devise assessments (e. g. quizzes) to assess the effectiveness of thecourses
  • Continuous evaluation and improvement of the onlinecourses
  • Assist and provide consultation to teachers, tutors and staff
  • Analyse and apply trends and best practices in learning technologies and instructional design
  • Create and maintain project documentation and coursefolders

 

Qualifications and Prerequisites

  • Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) in learning design, learning sciences, instructional design, educational psychology or similarfield
  • Minimum 3 yearsexperience
  • Experience in LMS environments
  • Knowledge of different e-learning and dataanalytics
  • Strong knowledge of adult learning theory and instructional systemsdesign
  • In-depth knowledge of learning theories and instructional designmodels
  • Visual designskills
  • Proactive approach to problemsolving
  • Ability to write effective copy, instructional text, audio and videoscripts
  • Excellent command ofEnglish
  • Comfortable working in a multiculturalenvironment
  • Excellent interpersonal skills andflexibility
