This post will be a fixed-term contract for 3 years.
This is a full-time post – 100% full time equivalent.
We are looking for an outstanding individual to join the AIMS-2-TRIALS team. This is the largest neurodevelopmental grant in the world, and brings together centres across the EU, North America, and South Africa. Together we carry out ‘deep phenotyping’ studies from basic cellular and rodent models linking to fetuses and infants at risk of developing autism, children and adults with autism, and individuals with rare genetic disorders. Our aim is to better understand the cause(s) of autism – and so identify new treatments.
Working under the direction Professor Declan Murphy, the successful candidate will discover and validate biomarkers in autistic individuals. These may be based on advanced analytic experience of the successful candidate in any of the following; electrophysiology (e.g. eye tracking, EEG), MRI (structural, functional, DT-MRI), genetics, biofluids, cognition, behaviour. He/she will develop novel scientific questions in autism and lead on the analysis of a particular aspect aligned with their own area of expertise. They will line also manage a team of research assistants and PhD students. The successful candidate will be expected to participate in the Department’s outstanding MSc teaching, have a good track record with publications and research grant writing.
