Compensation and Appointment:

Position:  Post Doctoral Fellow

Remuneration / Salary: $40,000+/year

Twelve (12) month, non-tenure track, special appointment with UND SMHS, Department of Biomedical Sciences.

Job Summary and Responsibilities:                                               

Post-doctoral position is available immediately to conduct research related to association of peripheral infections with neuroinflammation.    The work will require extensive utilization of in-vivo murine models and validations in-vitro to study the effect of peripheral infections on neuroinflammatory changes.  Experience in murine models of infection is desirable.  Techniques utilized for the studies include mouse infections, in addition to standard molecular biology, immunological, immunohistochemical, and biochemical techniques.   The successful candidate will be trained in the isolation of immune cell subsets for multiparameter flow cytometry and confocal microscopy.

In addition to planning, design and executing experiments, the selected candidate will also contribute significantly to related projects in the lab.  Other duties of the position include:

  • Keep up with relevant scientific literature;
  • Working with students and staff and training new personnel in the laboratory as required;
  • Preparing data and presentation for lab meetings;
  • Attending and presenting at scientific meetings, and
  • Writing drafts of manuscripts

The successful candidate will be required to work in collaboration with other researchers within and outside the lab group.

Minimum Requirements: 

  • Ph.D in Infectious diseases, Immunology, Neuroscience or related field. 
  • Minimum one year experience with murine models in Ph.D. studies.
  • Have utilized techniques for mouse infections.
  • Experience with other techniques such as standard molecular biology, immunological, immunohistochemical, or biochemical.
  • Submit curriculum vitae and the contact information of three references.
  • Successful completion of a criminal history records check.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Experience in multiparameter flow cytometry and confocal microscopy.
