Professor in Basic Research in Biology of Infectious Diseases of Poverty (open rank)

The University of Basel, in collaboration with the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute (Swiss TPH), invites applications for a professorship (open rank) in basic research in biology of infectious diseases of poverty.

Your position

The successful candidate has an excellent scientific publication record and proven track record in the acquisition of competitive research funding, will complement and enhance the research portfolio of Swiss TPH, in particular the Department of Medical Parasitology and Infection Biology, as well as the broader Basel Life Sciences community, and will contribute to teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level.

Your profile

We are interested in candidates developing an innovative and cutting-edge research programme focusing on one of the main infectious diseases of poverty, such as (but not limited to) malaria, tuberculosis, helminth infections or dengue. Candidates with a strong quantitative background are particularly encouraged to apply. To fit into our interdisciplinary and highly diverse institute, we expect the successful candidate to possess adequate leadership skills, thus leading by example, and representing the mission, strategy and core values of Swiss TPH.

The successful candidate will be an employee of Swiss TPH as leading scientist in the Department of Medical Parasitology and Infection Biology.
