Vice Chancellor for Research

The Vice Chancellor for Research (VCR), reporting to the Chancellor, Anschutz Medical Campus, is responsible for the direction and advocacy of our research endeavors.  The work will require collaborative coordination with the Deans’ offices and faculty leadership of the university’s colleges and schools, as well as the other university Vice Chancellors and the Associate Vice Chancellor for Research at the Denver campus.  The Vice Chancellor plays a leadership role in helping the campuses meet emerging research opportunities, including interdisciplinary and cross-campus research initiatives.  Important components of the research agenda include building faculty involvement in program project grants, enhancing innovation including establishing a new office devoted to identifying collaborative, interdisciplinary opportunities, connecting the relevant researchers, and obtaining multi-project grant support for these initiatives.  The Vice Chancellor will also collaborate with the Dean of the Graduate School to further integrate research with our education and training programs.  A priority within the leadership role of this position will be to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements that relate to research activity. 

The successful candidate will have, among other knowledge and qualifications:

  • Earned a terminal professional degree in medicine, dentistry, pharmacy or nursing and/or PhD in the sciences; academic qualifications consistent with an appointment to the rank of professor with tenure in one of the Health Sciences Schools/College at the Anschutz Medical Campus.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of and experience in the conduct of academic research in a health sciences environment.
  • A record of successful leadership on issues related to research.
  • Extensive knowledge of the federal regulatory requirements for research.
