DEPARTMENT OF APPLIED BIOLOGY AND CHEMICAL TECHNOLOGY
 
The Department of Applied Biology and Chemical Technology is a multi-disciplinary department in The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) with diversified specialties in biology, biotechnology, chemistry, biochemistry, nutrition and food science.  The Department’s research focus is in the interdisciplinary areas of chemistry, biology, nutrition and food science.  There are about 45 faculty members in the Department.  Please visit the website at http://www.polyu.edu.hk/abct for more information about the Department.
 
Assistant Professor in Biology / Biotechnology (Ref. 19011610)
 
The appointee will be required to (a) conduct lectures, practical sessions and tutorials at taught master’s and undergraduate levels in various disciplines of Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Physiology, Food and Nutrition, Immunology, Microbiology (non-clinical) and/or related disciplines; (b) supervise undergraduate and postgraduate students; (c) establish a vigorous research programme at the cutting edge of biotechnology, biochemistry, cell biology, food and nutrition, immunology, microbiology (non-clinical), and engage in other scholarly activities; and (d) contribute to departmental and programme administration as well as curriculum development.
 
Applicants should (a) have a PhD degree in the field of Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Immunology, Microbiology or related disciplines; (b) have relevant post-qualification experience in teaching and research; (c) have an excellent publication record in peer-reviewed international journals, especially in the areas of biotechnology, biochemistry, food and nutrition as well as other disciplines of biology; (d) be highly motivated and possess creative talents to develop and apply the state-of-the-art techniques in the areas of Immunology to investigate biomedical problems that are critical to the health of humans and/or domestic animals; (e) have an established track record in obtaining external funding/research grants; and (f) be able to demonstrate evidence of effective classroom teaching skills.
 
Preference will be given to those with an undergraduate degree in Immunology, Microbiology, Pharmacology or related disciplines.
 
Remuneration and Conditions of Service
