Postdoctoral Fellowship in Pharmaceutical Sciences

St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital

Outstanding candidates are invited to apply for a fully supported postdoctoral fellowship using pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic modeling to improve the therapy for children with brain tumors and solid tumors.

As a postdoctoral fellow in the Stewart Laboratory, you will conduct innovative research and receive comprehensive training to provide a foundation for your future as an independent, laboratory-based clinical pharmaceutical scientist in industry or academia. You’ll be an integral part of a team that interacts with clinicians and scientists, developing novel therapies for children with cancer through collaborative group meetings.

Current Research

The Stewart Lab uses pharmacokinetic (PK) and pharmacodynamic (PD) modeling and simulation to address clinically relevant problems encountered in the therapy of children with brain tumors or solid malignancies.

Pharmacometric approaches are applied to the results of preclinical and clinical studies to better understand the unique aspects of drug therapy infants and very young children with cancer.

As a postdoctoral fellow in the Stewart Lab, you will:

  • Contribute toward the design of preclinical and clinical studies
  • Translate pre-clinical in vitro and in vivo data into clinical trials
  • Model preclinical and clinical PK and PD data
  • Study genetic determinants of PK and PD interpatient variability
  • Gain expertise in using the latest analysis tools, software and methodologies

Eligibility

Successful applicants will have:

  • A doctoral degree in an appropriate scientific field
  • Demonstrated proficiency in PK and PD modeling and simulation methods, including population approaches

A background in physiologically based pharmacokinetics and/or systems pharmacology as well as experience with contemporary programming and modeling software (NONMEM and/or Monolix, R and/or Matlab) is a plus, but is not strictly required.

St. Jude offers highly competitive stipends and benefits and actively fosters professional development for postdocs. The hospital is located in the friendly, vibrant city of Memphis, Tennessee.
