Postdoctoral Fellow — Phase Transition in Cancer Cells

The laboratory of Dr. Huaiying Zhang (Lab Page: in the Department of Biological Sciences at Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) is looking for motivated candidates for a postdoctoral position. The major focus of the lab is to dissect how phase transition organizes biochemistry in cells with novel optogenetic tools and other multidisciplinary approaches. This postdoctoral position specifically aims to elucidate how phase transition of nuclear bodies associated with telomeres in telomerase-free cancer cells contributes to cancer cell growth. The long-term goal is to develop therapeutic strategies targeting the phase transition process. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who seeks a stimulating interdisciplinary work environment.

A PhD in a STEM field is required at the time of hiring. Candidates with expertise in cell biology, cancer biology, biochemistry, engineering or biophysics are welcome to apply.

Apply by email to Dr. Huaiying Zhang ( with a CV, a cover letter, and contact information for three references.
