Cellular Microbiology Faculty Position

The Department of Pathology and Microbiology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, NE seeks outstanding applicants for a faculty position within the area of Cellular Microbiology. The Department is looking to build on existing strengths in bacteriology by recruiting an investigator with expertise in entry mechanisms, bacterial responses to nutrient deprivation, bacterial secretion systems associated with pathogenesis, and/or novel host-pathogen interaction in vitro culture models in obligate or facultative intracellular pathogens. Ideal candidates will have a Ph.D. and/or M.D with 3-4 years of postdoctoral training or faculty experience, will be able to demonstrate the ability to complement existing research interests in the program, have (or exhibit the potential to create) an extramurally-funded research program, and contribute to graduate education, including the successful mentorship of trainees. Salary will be commensurate with experience and will include a university benefits package.

The Department of Pathology and Microbiology has over 60 faculty members working in modern, well-equipped laboratories with state-of-the-art facilities. UNMC houses multiple core facilities to support novel and high impact research programs including the Advanced Microscopy Core, the Electron Microscopy Core, the Proteomics Core, the Genomics and Epigenomics Cores, the Biomedical Informatics Core, and others.
