Postdoctoral Research Associate – Aging and Obesity Research - Jiang lab

A postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Yuwei Jiang in the Department of Physiology and Biophysics at University of Illinois at Chicago. We are currently recruiting postdoctoral fellows with backgrounds in stem cell aging and metabolism to work in our laboratory. We have broad interests in adipose tissue development, expansion, and aging, with particular focus on elucidating the roles of adipose stem cells in obesity and aging-associated metabolic comorbidities.  We aim (1) to explore the mechanisms that control white and beige adipocyte development and (2) to understand how these mechanisms go awry in response to aging and other metabolic disease. The candidate will use a combination of tissue specific, inducible knockout and lineage tracing mouse models, coupled with molecular and cellular approaches and flow cytometry and imaging technologies.

Candidates should have a recent Ph.D. degree in Biological Sciences, or a related field. Candidates with the following qualifications are encouraged to apply: 1) strong self-motivation, 2) first author publications, 3) ability to plan, organize and meet deadlines is required, 4) excellent communication skills (writing and oral), and ability to collaborate with others, 5) experiences in mouse genetics, cell culture, histology, flow cytometry, and/or mouse metabolic phenotyping is preferred but not a must.

To apply, please send:

  1. Cover letter that describes what you have accomplished, career interests, and your motivation to apply
  2. Professional CV
  3. Contact information for three references to Yuwei Jiang at yuweij@uic.edu
