Assistant Professorship in Orthopedic Tumor Research

The Assistant Professorship (six years) will be established at the Balgrist University Hospital. It offers unique opportunities to develop a strong research program in the field of orthopedic cancer, embedded in a multidisciplinary and translationally-oriented environment.

Applicants should have completed a degree in biomedical sciences or human medicine (PhD or MD) and have several years of experience in postdoctoral research in life sciences. We are seeking candidates with outstanding scientific achievements and a strong interest in developing advanced imaging modalities or bioinformatics tools to advance their research. Contribution to education and training of students of human medicine and biomedicine, as well as supervision of MSc and PhD students is expected. Provided the required clinical qualifications are met, part-time clinical duties are possible.

The University Hospital Balgrist is an internationally leading research and service institution of orthopedics and paraplegiology. Research in Balgrist focuses on orthopedic biomechanics, computer science in orthopedics, muscle biology, neuro-rehabilitation and clinical research on the musculoskeletal system and spinal neurology. The Balgrist campus is home to the Swiss Center for Musculoskeletal Biobanking (SCMB), the Swiss Center for Musculoskeletal Imaging and the Swiss Center for Kinematic and Movement Analysis. It offers state-of-the-art research facilities designed to foster interdisciplinary collaborations between basic scientists, clinicians and engineers.

Knowledge of German is not a requirement, but expected for candidates interested in clinical activities.
