The post-doctoral staff member, funded through an extraordinary grant kindly provided by the W.M. Keck Foundation, would be expected to conduct research with independent leadership and motivation leading to regular, high-quality journal publications in analysis and computation supporting an extensive experimental research effort underway in understanding fluid interfacial phenomena at the micro to nano scales as driven by nonlinear acoustics. This is to include droplet formation, interfacial phenomena, and turbulence.

The person would lead a small group of postgraduate students and undergraduate student assistants in conducting that research, and would on occasion assist the larger group in performing research work consistent with the person's knowledge and experience.

The post-doc would be expected to lead authorship of papers, present work at international meetings, and occasionally aid in pursuit of additional funding to augment the work underway. Further, the post-doc staff member would be made responsible for the expenditure of funds associated with current projects. Depending on the career interests of the post-doc, additional responsibilities may be arranged to enhance their future employment prospects.

Candidates must have received the PhD no earlier than July 2014 and are to receive the PhD degree before April 2019. Evidence of the applicant's past research leading to publication in quality peer-reviewed journals in this discipline is expected. More information on post-doctoral appointments with UC San Diego is available at https://postdoc.ucsd.edu/appointment-guidelines/index.html and prospective applicants should have a look at https://postdoc.ucsd.edu and http://pda.ucsd.edu/ and the pages within to learn more about serving as a postdoctoral researcher here.
