The Departments of Medicine and Surgery at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) invite applications for a post-doctoral fellowship to study the mechanisms of inflammation, pathogenesis, and repair in acute kidney injury.
This post-doctoral fellowship is available immediately in the laboratories of Dr. Anupam Agarwal and Dr. James George at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. These laboratories are engaged in the study of the mechanisms of inflammation, pathogenesis and recovery in acute kidney injury. We have developed robust murine animal models of acute kidney injury which we use to study the roles of intra-renal inflammation, lymphangiogenesis, and stress responses in acute kidney injury. The successful candidates will use cell culture, next generation sequencing, flow cytometry, molecular biology, and protein chemistry for significant and innovative advances directed towards a serious clinical problem for which there are no effective treatments. These laboratories maintain a close-knit collegial scientific environment in which individual scientific contributions are valued. Post-doctoral fellows are encouraged to develop their proficiency as independent, funded investigators.
Interested candidates should submit a cover letter that includes research experience, curriculum vitae, and the names of three references with their application. Evaluation of applications will occur as they are received and will continue until the position is filled.
