The Division of Anesthesiology, Critical Care and Pain Medicine is expanding research initiatives across our three departments.  We are accepting applications to fill two open rank, term tenure or tenure-track faculty positions.  The successful candidates will have expertise and conduct research in one of three areas:

1)  Clinical or basic mechanisms of pain, especially pain issues experienced by cancer patients, (ie. pain driven by cancer or its treatments)

2)  Neuro-immune communication in the role of peri-operative stress, post-operative immune suppression, enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS), or the effects of opioids in promoting cancer growth and metastasis

3)  Multi-organ failure preferably with a focus on mechanisms of pro-inflammatory cascades initiated by peri-operative stress or sepsis that leads to damage in vital organ systems.

Applicants at the level of Assistant Professor will be responsible for establishing his/her own independent program funded by extramural grants.  Applicants at the Associate/Full Professor should have an established research program and track record of relevant research funding.  Candidates must have an outstanding publication record. Preference will be given to candidates with NIH funding and a highly productive record of innovative research and collaborations

Applicants must hold a Ph.D. and/or M.D. in Neuroscience, Clinical Immunology, Biochemistry, or Molecular Biology or have  experience commeserate with in a position with similar requirements.
