Faculty Position in Cell, Developmental and Integrative Biology
The Department of Cell, Developmental and Integrative Biology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (http://www.uab.edu/medicine/cdib/) invites applications for a faculty position of Anatomist/Medical Educator. This tenure-earning position will entail teaching medical, dental, optometry and other health-related students in the field of Anatomy. The selected individual will have a full-time commitment and focus on providing anatomy education, utilizing approaches that integrate basic science and clinical areas. Additional opportunities are available in resident and clinician education through a state-of-the-art surgical anatomy lab that uses lightly-embalmed cadavers. A strong background in clinically/surgically-oriented anatomy and embryology is required. Cadaveric dissection skills are required for concurrent gross anatomy laboratories and for future prosections. We are seeking a candidate with either a PhD or MD degree and individuals with a record of significant educational accomplishments. These include demonstration of excellence in the teaching of anatomy, documentation of the use of innovative approaches to medical education and involvement in national educational organizations. This appointment will be made at an academic rank commensurate with experience.
