The Department of Chemistry in the College of Science at Purdue University, West Lafayette, invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Associate or Full Professor level in Inorganic Chemistry. Successful candidates may have interests in any research area of inorganic chemistry, defined broadly. Purdue has a tradition of excellence in inorganic chemistry, and is seeking to enhance this preeminence through strategic hiring. The Department is looking to integrate a creative scientist.  This position is part of a large-scale interdisciplinary hiring effort across key strategic areas in the College of Science, comprising the life, physical, and computing sciences—this position comes at a time when the College is under new leadership and with multiple commitments of significant investment.

 

 

With 50 full-time faculty, 350 PhD students, and over 300 outstanding undergraduates, the highly-ranked Department is one of the largest and most diverse in the country. The wide-ranging expertise in the Department enables fast and effective responses to interdisciplinary research opportunities, positioning the department as a key partner in many university-wide centers, institutes and initiatives.

 

 

Successful candidates are expected to have a doctorate degree in chemistry or a related field, to have demonstrated excellence in teaching at the graduate and undergraduate levels, and to have already established a vibrant research program supported by extramural funding.  Applicants should submit a letter of application with curriculum vita, a summary of planned research, and a statement on teaching philosophy electronically at: www.chem.purdue.edu/facultyopenings.
