Postdoctoral Fellow Position at Harvard Medical School
We are looking for applicants for post-doctoral positions for DOD funded projects directed by Dr. Lilit Garibyan and Dr. Rox Anderson at the Wellman Center for Photomedicine, Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School, Our laboratory is world-renowned for developing novel biomedical therapies for patients and making discoveries with direct impact on patient care. We are looking for highly motivated postdoctoral fellows who will be responsible for designing, developing and implementing experimental protocols and working with animal models ranging from mice, rats and swine. Our research is focused on developing innovative and device-based therapies for targeting visceral adipose tissue for treatment of type II diabetes, sleep apnea and vascular disease. An important part of the research projects in which the candidates will be involved are focused on investigating visceral adipocyte tissue interaction with surrounding vessels, muscles and nerves. We are interested in investigating the molecular mechanisms and the role that adipose tissue plays human disease, with the goal of developing a novel therapy for targeted removal of disease associated adipose tissue. Another area of interested is the role that nerves play in regulating adipose and vascular tissue and developing ways to target them.
- MD/PhD or PhD in Molecular Biology or Cell Biology or Neuroscience or related fields
- Experience working with mouse, rat or swine models is a plus but not required
- Strong molecular biology skill and experience with molecular biology techniques such as Western blotting, ELISA, RT-PCR, qPCR, histology, immunohistochemistry, confocal imaging, cell isolation, flow-cytometry, etc
- Experience working with adipose or vascular or neural tissue
- Ability to work independently
- Sound verbal and written communication skills in English
About the Wellman Center: The Wellman Center for Photomedicine, located at the Massachusetts General Hospital, is a large multidisciplinary group of scientists dedicated to biomedical actions, innovations and use of light.
