Temple University's College of Engineering is continuing the rapid expansion of its research and education endeavors, including the recently completed renovation of two floors of the Engineering Building with a total of 25,000 square feet of state-of-the-art research, education, and office space, much of which is occupied by the newly established Department of Bioengineering. Our College is up 10 spots in US News Best Grad Schools with our #TempleBioE department ranked highest in the College. Since its inception in 2012, the Bioengineering Department inaugurated the graduate (MSc/PhD) program (Fall 2012) and launched the undergraduate program (Fall 2013). We recently graduated the third cohort of ca. 60 seniors, and ca. 20 graduate students  Overall, our current student body includes 280 undergraduate and 45 graduate students. The core faculty is comprised of 3 Full Professors, 2 Associate Professors and 9 Assistant Professor. Nearly 50% of our faulty are female .

We now seek to hire mid-career or senior level candidates with an established, extramurally funded research program to join our burgeoning department,  who are interested in solidifying and expanding our current focus areas of research and actively contributing to our educational mission.

While extramurally-funded candidates at all levels areas are encouraged to apply, we are particularly interested in mid-career or senior level candidates in the areas of Biomaterials, Tissue and Regenerative Engineering, Neuroengineering, Biosignals, Biomechanics, and Bioinstrumentation to further solidify our existing areas of strengths.

Successful candidates are expected to maintain an innovative, extramurally funded research program and establish close interdisciplinary collaborations with the Health Science Campus (School of Medicine, School of Pharmacy, School of Dentistry, College of Public Health, Shriner's Hospital for Children and Fox Chase Cancer Center, among others). Such interdisciplinary collaborations could also be furthered through the Temple Institute for Regenerative Medicine and Engineering (TIME) connecting the Health Sciences Campus and Main Campus. An important university-wide strategic goal, in line with our department's interests, is to advance translational biomedical research and promote commercialization and entrepreneurship and therefore we encourage candidates to be inventive and innovative.  Highly qualified candidates may be eligible for the Laura H. Carnell Professorship.
