Lead financial modeling
  • Build financial models that demonstrate broad data sources to inform design scenarios and options, country and site allocations and optimize time, value, cost and risk
  • Perform financial modeling that applies clinical development, therapeutic area and financial expertise to estimate the impact of clinical trial design scenarios and decisions
  • Lead business case analysis to inform resourcing decisions
  • Lead implementation for developing real-time visibility of scenario and option costs to inform decisions
  • Analyze finance information compared to plan to inform future modeling
  • Develop approach to model detailed historical clinical trial costs that can be used for modeling and lead implementation to inform design scenarios/options. Responsible for building approach that drives model improvements
  • Partner with internal and external resources to collect knowledgebase of granular clinical trial actual costs (planned and actuals)
  • Partner with other clinical organizations to assess trial-level budgets and compare actuals against forecasted budgets
  • Maintain relationship and connection to Resource Modeling & Forecasting (RM&F) data sources to use benchmarks, archetypes and global capacity forecasts
Lead efforts to automate and streamline financial tools, systems and processes
  • Continuously assess and evaluate evolving business partner needs that could be addressed with automation or additional analytic resources
  • Simplify and streamline existing tools for application across the team
  • Identify and implement utilization of templates or tools, enabling consistency and end-user ease of use and interpretation
  • Execute process to assemble and communicate metrics for Design Hub performance
  • Develop understanding of asset strategy, clinical design questions and regional requirements in order to research available datasources/tools to provide data and analyses supporting trial design scenarios, feasibility and site identification
  • Research data capabilities and technologies that will assist in growing financial data capabilities and/or automation/efficiency

The purpose of the Design Hub Analytics Financial Consultant role is to support the design of clinical programs and trials by using financial modeling to bring together internal and external data sources, analyses and insights. The models will inform multiple scenarios thus driving excellence in clinical trial design and enabling more efficient planning and execution. This role is also responsible for building, implementing and leading the financial modeling tools, processes and systems for modeling scenarios and collecting a deep knowledgebase of historical clinical trial costs.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor Degree or higher preferably in Finance or Business-related field
  • Minimum five years of relevant experience with an emphasis on financial planning, forecasting, modeling, and/or data analysis
  • Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States. Lilly does not anticipate providing sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B or TN status) for this employment position

Additional Skills/Preferences
  • Financial and/or pharmaceutical clinical experience preferred
  • Post-graduate degree seen as a plus (e.g., MBA)
  • Background in financial planning, forecasting, reporting and analysis
  • Strong valuation skills and dedication to accuracy
  • Excellent written and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated critical thinking skills and interest in continuous improvement
  • Strong learning agility with ability to both execute and think strategically
  • Analytical ability to utilize complex software systems/review data
  • Able to influence and communicate effectively across diverse geographies, functions and management levels
  • Ability to navigate fluidly between detail and high-level executive messages
  • Strong business partnering skills
  • Able to multitask, prioritize and work well in stressful situations
  • Strong working knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint and SAP (V&C and Project Systems)
