Tenure-Track Associate Professor/Assistant Professor in Bioinformatics

Applications are invited for appointment as Tenure-Track Associate Professor/Assistant Professor in Bioinformatics jointly held in the Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine and the Department of Statistics and Actuarial Science of the Faculty of Science (Ref.: 492412), to commence as soon as possible, on a three-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal and with consideration for tenure before the expiry of a second three-year fixed-term contract, subject to satisfactory performance.

Applicants should have a Ph.D. degree in Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, Computer Science, Biological Sciences, or a related discipline, with research areas related to medical big data analysis.  They should be able to demonstrate strong commitment in research and teaching.  A solid track record in research and post-graduate student training are essential.  Preference will be given to those who have extensive research experience in applying biostatistics, mathematical modelling and/or bioinformatics tools to interrogate high-throughput omics data for application in personalized medicine.  Applicants should also possess effective communication skills, and have a strong interest in collaborating with different clinical and research groups to address various scientific questions.  Enquiries about the post can be sent to medhr1@hku.hk.  

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits.  At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income.  The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary.  Housing benefits will also be provided as applicable.
