Manager, FP&A Manufacturing and Technical Development

The Role:
Moderna is looking for a Manager FP&A to join a growing and dynamic Financial Planning and Analysis team.   Reporting to the Director of FP&A, this position will serve as a business partner to the - Manufacturing /Technical Development (TD) teams that support a growing portfolio of development candidates.   This position will partner with organizational leaders on operating budgets and forecasts, month-end close and reporting activities, capital planning, as well as other ad-hoc operational or strategic decision-making support.   The role will require significant interaction with key stakeholders in the Manufacturing/TD and Finance functions

Here's What You'll Do:

Financial Planning/Decision Analysis:

  • Assist with the development of annual budgets and reforecasts including quarterly trend analysis and consolidation of projections
  • Maintain a consolidated Manufacturing/TD headcount tracker and partner with HRBPs, Talent Acquisition and cost center managers to track and review changes, moves, hires and departures
  • Develop and maintain the process for monthly capital investment forecasting for Mfg/TD
  • Continuously identify and communicate all risks and opportunities against the existing forecast
  • Support the development of the long-range plan and other ad-hoc decision analysis (including but not limited to cost of supply, make vs buy assessments, resource modeling and space planning) as applicable
  • Support external partnerships/collaborations and ad-hoc requests for business development as needed

Reporting:

  • Update month end dashboards and other reports for headcount, operating expenses and capital.  Outline key insights or trends that require attention and enable budget owners to manage to established budgets
  • Prepare monthly / quarterly financial deliverables as needed

Ongoing Operational finance support:

  • Manage day-to-day purchase requisition approvals and resolve ad-hoc invoicing issues
  • Assist accounting operations team during month-end close with related spend/accruals for TD and select Manufacturing teams
  • Support the monthly Manufacturing/TD capital approval process by facilitating Capital Request submissions, variances to budget and tracking actual spend against approved projects
  • Suggest and drive process and system improvements

Here's What You'll Bring to the Table:

  • BA/BS in accounting or finance required, MBA preferred
  • 2-4 years of FP&A experience; life sciences industry experience preferred
  • Basic understanding of cost accounting /COGS or COGM development preferred
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to details; ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast paced, dynamic environment
  • High degree of initiative and self-motivation
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills; highly proficient in Excel based modeling
  • Strong communication skills (both written and oral)
  • Experience with tier 1 ERP systems (e.g. SAP, Oracle) and planning and reporting tools preferred
