The Department of Psychology at Arizona State University-Tempe invites applications at the Assistant Professor level for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position in cognitive neuroscience. This is an academic year, benefits-eligible appointment with an anticipated start date of August 2019.
Successful candidate will be expected to make scholarly contributions in cognitive neuroscience; conduct research that contributes to strategic collaborations (basic or applied cognitive neuroscience research to investigate perception-action, motor control, attention, cognitive control, learning and memory, reading, development or other components of human cognition); mentor graduate students; teach advanced courses in her/his specialty area; contribute to teaching the core cognitive neuroscience curriculum at both the graduate and undergraduate levels; and participate in service to the department, university and profession as appropriate. ASU is located in the Phoenix/Scottsdale metropolitan area and has strategic collaborations with the Mayo Clinic, Barrow Neurological Institute, Phoenix Children’s Hospital and Banner Health. Applicants are sought who conduct research that contribute to these partnerships.
Essential qualifications for the position include: (1) a Ph.D. or equivalent in Psychology or other discipline relevant to the position by the start date; (2) a strong research program capable of being supported through external funding; and (3) a commitment to quality teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Demonstrated success reaching out to diverse communities or meeting the needs of diverse student populations is desirable.
