The Department of Neuroscience and Physiology is seeking applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level, although applicants at the Associate or Full Professor level will be considered, in the area of Neurobiology of Psychiatric Disorders, broadly defined. The research interests of the candidate may include: autism, addiction, mania, bipolar disorder, major depression, PTSD, schizophrenia, or aging/Alzheimer’s disease. We are interested in candidates who can emphasize translational relevance through electrophysiology, molecular, cellular and/or behavioral approaches in tractable models including human. The research activities can involve: in vivo animal models and in vitro cell culture models; as well as human studies. The successful applicant will have demonstrated evidence of independent research projects and a growing publication record. Sustained grant funding is required for appointment to the rank of Associate Professor or Full Professor. The Department is collaborative with strengths in molecular and cellular neural development, retinal neurobiology and biological psychiatry. The Neuroscience and Physiology research laboratories are located in the newly built Neuroscience Research Building equipped with state-of-the-art microscopy, animal and molecular core facilities juxtaposed to dedicated space for clinical assessment and phlebotomy facilitating translational neuroscience. The Neuroscience and Physiology labs are adjacent to Ophthalmology and Psychiatry research groups forming the core of the Neuroscience graduate program. Applicants will be expected to secure and maintain a well-funded research program and to contribute to graduate and medical teaching in Neuroscience and Physiology.
