Assistant Professor, Biology

The University of Northern Iowa’s College of Humanities, Arts & Sciences- Department of Biology invites applications for a tenure-track faculty at the level of Assistant Professor to start August 1, 2019. The typical teaching load in the Department is 9 total classroom/lab contact hours per week. The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. by August 1, 2019 and a commitment to undergraduate and graduate education with the ability to teach lecture and lab courses in introductory cellular / molecular biology and related courses. The successful candidate will be expected to maintain an active research program and engage undergraduate and master’s level students in research. Faculty members are expected to seek extramural funding.

Ph.D. in biology or related field required; ABD's will be considered with evidence of completion by August 1, 2019.           

Required qualifications include ability to teach introductory cell biology and related courses and the ability to establish a productive research program involving undergraduate and MS students in a comprehensive university setting.

Preference will be given to candidates with a research program that appeals to students with biomedical interests.
