Tennure Track Assistant Professor of Biological Sciences in Neurobiology
TENURE TRACK ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF BIOLOGICAL SCIENCES IN NEUROBIOLOGY
The Department of Biological Sciences of Augusta University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin in August 2019. The Department is composed of 22 full-time and 7 part-time faculty members with expertise across a broad spectrum of biological disciplines. We have a strong commitment to providing research opportunities and experience to our undergraduate students in addition to excellent classroom and laboratory instruction. As a thriving unit in this research university, faculty in the Department of Biological Sciences have both the opportunity and expectation to help develop new undergraduate and graduate programs in the biological sciences. Within the next academic year, we expect to launch our first master’s program in Biomolecular Sciences, and the faculty member hired for this position will be an integral part of this emerging program.
Applicant must possess a Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree, preferably with postdoctoral experience in the area of Neurobiology, Neuroscience or a closely related field and have a strong commitment to excellence in research and teaching both graduate and undergraduate students. The successful candidate is expected to establish a vigorous externally funded research program focusing on neuroscience, including a neurodegenerative condition such as movement disorders, stroke, or dementia. Additionally, applicants must possess the credentials to teach courses such as neuroscience, cell biology, and graduate courses. The normal teaching load for this position will be approximately two courses per academic year, and applicants must have a strong commitment to excellence in teaching undergraduates.
