Point Blue seeks an innovative and collaborative thought leader with proven success as a manager, fundraiser, and spokesperson to serve as its next Chief Executive Officer. The successful CEO will embrace Point Blue’s critical climate-smart conservation goals and high performance teaming approach to shape its future success working with Point Blue’s 180 scientists, restorationists, and educators.
Global temperatures are rising outside the narrow band that has defined the rise of human civilization over the past 10,000 years. As earth’s climate system shifts, we are experiencing extreme and deadly weather events and undergoing what has become known as the “sixth mass extinction.” Roughly half of earth’s land surface and much of our oceans have been degraded to provide resources for our rapidly increasing human population. How we adapt to this evolving reality is the challenge of our generation.
Point Blue is built for that challenge. Our scientists are dedicated to understanding the natural world and innovating nature-based approaches that address the severity and impacts of environmental change across California’s iconic and influential landscapes – from the Sierra to the sea – and far beyond. We believe that due to our climate-smart conservation actions today, healthy ecosystems will continue to support thriving wildlife and human communities into the future.
While the US is more polarized than ever, our focus at Point Blue is to build bridges, working with our partners – government agencies, NGOs, universities, the military, farmers, ranchers, fishers, and others – to reduce the impacts of and prepare for environmental change. We seek solutions and strongly advocate for the use of science in decision-making at all levels. This is a critical moment in time for a visionary leader to guide Point Blue for effective, science-based problem solving regionally, nationally, and globally, with tremendous opportunity to effect meaningful change on a global scale.

- Energize staff, board, and partners to drive our strategy to success
- Grow financial resources necessary to achieve our vision
- Embody our commitment to science, collaboration, trust, innovation, inclusivity, and diversity
