Microbial Metabolic Biochemistry

We are looking for a distinguished scientist with expertise in the field of metabolism of microorganisms, microbial communication, microbial biocatalysis and enzyme engineering. The candidate’s work program should complement the faculty Center for Molecular Interactions in Biomedicine and Biotechnology (C-MIBB) and the strategic research field "Sustainable Basics for Life and Health" of Leipzig University with the research profile area "Molecular and Cellular Communication in Therapy and Diagnostics". International visibility is expected through high-level publications in peer-reviewed journals, success in attracting competitive third-party funding, and a high level of commitment to academic teaching. The professorship will be devoted to the fields of microbiology and biochemistry in B.Sc. and M.Sc. Biochemistry and Biology and also be responsible for the microbiology training of teacher candidates. In addition, active participation in academic self-governance within the Institute for Biochemistry and the Faculty is expected.
