The Role:

We are looking for a co-op to help us develop a nanoparticle-based drug delivery system for messenger RNA.  Nanomedicine technology is one of the most exciting emerging areas of drug delivery today.  Pursuing this technology involves a major focus on characterizing interfacial and colloidal properties together with understanding how the messenger RNA molecule itself affects pharmaceutical attributes of the nanoparticle system.  We are looking for a candidate who is enthusiastic and curious with a strong interest in learning laboratory instrumentation and data interpretation aimed at nanoparticle characterization and stabilization. The position will be laboratory-based (Cambridge) with a strong emphasis on applying advanced biophysical methodologies, experimental design and data analysis.  Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, and Pharmaceutical Sciences majors are all encouraged to apply.

Here's What You'll Do:

  • Learn about RNA structure function, pharmaceutical development, and drug delivery with nanoparticles
  • Learn and apply biophysical instrumentation for nanoparticle sizing and surface characterization
  • Perform laboratory instrumental analysis
  • Perform formulation preparation, characterization and stability studies
  • Computational analysis of thermodynamic, biophysical and stability data
