The Department of Biology at the University of Nebraska at Omaha invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in immunobiology starting August 11, 2019.  A Ph.D. in the life sciences and postdoctoral research experience are required.

The university and department are strongly committed to achieving diversity among faculty and staff. We are particularly interested in receiving applications from members of under-represented groups and strongly encourage women and persons of color to apply for this position.

We are seeking candidates with research interests in the broad field of immunobiology or immunology. The new faculty member is expected to establish an active, externally-supported research program, and develop synergies with ongoing research in the department. These synergies could include host-microbe interactions, infectious diseases, and cancer biology. Candidate research areas of interest include, but are not limited to: mechanisms of immune system function, regulation, evolution, ecological immunology, comparative immunology, and the immune system’s role in health and disease.

In addition to collaborations within the department, the successful candidate will have opportunities for collaboration with faculty in other UNO departments and at other campuses within the University of Nebraska system.

The standard faculty workload assignment in the Department of Biology is at most 75% teaching, which may be reduced by external funding. The successful candidate will contribute to teaching the core course of Immunology, Introductory Biology for majors, and will have the opportunity to develop an upper level/graduate level specialty course. Mentorship of undergraduate and graduate student research is expected.
