The Department of Chemistry at the University of Florida ( has an opening for a nine-month, tenure-track appointment at the level of ASSISTANT PROFESSOR, in the general area of Computational or Theoretical Chemistry, to begin August 16, 2019. The position includes start-up and lab space for the successful candidate to advance their research program. The candidate is expected to have demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching and mentoring a diverse undergraduate and graduate student body.

There are currently over forty-five faculty in the Department with internationally recognized expertise in computational and theoretical chemistry, biochemistry, biophysical chemistry, synthetic organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry, physical chemistry and analytical chemistry. The department is also affiliated with the Quantum Theory Project, an internationally-recognized center for the development and use of quantum-mechanical methods to understand the properties of atoms, molecules, and materials.

Candidates must have earned a PhD in computational or theoretical chemistry, or a related discipline, and subsequent postdoctoral training is encouraged, but not required.
