The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Department of Biostatistics invites applications for a tenured, tenure-track, or non-tenure-track faculty position at the level of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor (12month appointment with rank and tenure status commensurate with qualifications). The research focus for this position is Statistical Genetics/Statistical Genomics, one of the most rapidly growing and in-demand areas of scientific research. Required qualifications include a doctoral degree in statistics, biostatistics or related field and strong skills in mathematics and computations. Preference will be given to candidates with expertise in analysis of epigenetics/epigenomics, RNA-Seq, metabolomics, whole-genome sequencing, and microbiome/metagenome. The successful candidate will be expected to develop their own independent line of research and teach at least one graduate level biostatistics course each year (no more than 2 courses in an academic year). Additionally, a record of peer-reviewed publications and demonstrated ability to work effectively in an interdisciplinary, collaborative academic setting are essential. For the rank of Associate Professor or Professor, applicants should have experience obtaining extramural funding to support research.
